Baltimore, 1st October 2019 – Solarworx wins the global finals for the track “emerging decentralized solutions” at the Empower a Billion Lives (EBL) competition in Baltimore, USA. The total prize money of over USD 200,000 is dedicated to innovative solutions that foster energy access for the 2bn people living in energy poverty worldwide.
Among 450 teams from over 70 countries, 23 teams qualified for the finals during the regional round earlier this year. Solarworx was then able to convince the international jury with the technology and business model of the PayGo DC micro-grid.

The world’s largest electronics association IEEE initiated the Empower a billion lives award together with private sector supporters, The Center for Distributed Energy at the Georgia Institute of Technology as well as the IEEE Foundation.
