Cameroon, 2nd April 2018 – During a field trip to Cameroon a first sample installation of a SolarWorX 50W Solar Home System prototype has been succesfully completed. As the target region the Extrême-Nord was chosen, where electrification rates are below 20% and temperatures climb up to 45 °C.
“Our main target was to take the step from lab product testing into the field. With rough natural conditions the Nord-Extrême is ideal for a technical test. So far, we were able to collect important data that will help pushing the future product development.” says SolarWorX CTO Jakob Schily.
Beside of intensive product testing SolarWorX was able to make important contacts to public entities like UNDP and IRC as well as potential distribution partners. As a major challenge for distributors the prefinancing of solar home systems with a Pay-As-You-Go end-user contracts has been identified. To tackle this issue local financial institutions have been found that are ambitious to develop strategic parterships in the future.
